Northwest’s University Police Department at received a sexual assault report at approximately 8:30 p.m. Aug. 18, the department announced in an alert sent to students shortly after 9:30 p.m. Aug. 18.
The report described a “forcible fondling” that took place in Tower Suites West around 11:30 p.m. Aug. 17. The suspect is described as a tall, white male with a thin build and blond hair.
University Chief of Police Clarence Green said the department encourages good bystanders to intervene when situations are concerning.
“Our goal is to have a department where people are comfortable to come forward and report,” Green said. “We want to talk people through these heinous acts and get them the help they need.”
UPD sent a mass email and Bearcat Alert at 9:36 p.m. Aug. 18 containing information about the report, as well as information about sexual assault predators to encourage people to intervene in situations of concern.
