Heitman’s Countryside Bistro is only 15 minutes outside of Maryville, in Skidmore, Missouri. Although the restaurant is only open on Friday nights from 5pm-9pm and occasionally on Sunday’s, they have really great home cooked meals. They don’t accept credit cards so be sure to bring cash or a check! This bistro serves its customers comfort food buffet style. Some of the items you might see on their menu are meatloaf, mountain oysters, pork roast, ham, and breaded chicken. Along with green beans, carrots, potatoes, and many others.
Heitman’s Countryside Bistro has a weekly menu that they usually will post ahead of time on their Facebook page. When I went the menu was ham, breaded chicken breast, mountain oysters, shrimp, chili, oven potatoes, corn and green beans, assorted salads, and desserts. For my first plate, I had some of the breaded chicken breast, ham, green beans, and oven potatoes. The breaded chicken was amazing. It was by far the best chicken I have ever had. The green beans had a lot of bacon mixed in with them and I thought that made them taste even better. The ham was also really good. They had pineapple in the container with the ham to add that sweet flavor. For my second plate, I got some of the delicious looking desserts. I had one of the fresh made cinnamon rolls, chocolate Oreo fluff, and some sort of chocolate marshmallow brownie. I love cinnamon rolls, and these were fantastic. They had the right amount of icing spread on them and they were just a little crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside.
I would give Heitman’s Countryside Bistro a 4 out of 5 stars. The food was awesome, the service was great, I would recommend checking this place out if you’re missing home and want a good meal for a decent price.
