Dear Future Bearcats,

As Student Body President, I'd like to welcome you to Northwest Missouri State University! I hope you are all excited about beginning your college career and becoming part of the Northwest Family.

The college experience is as good as one makes it to be, and with some advice, I hope it will become one of the best experiences of your life! I have three tips I'd like to share with you before you begin your career at Northwest.

First, remember to study. You are here to obtain an academic degree. College provides a great amount of freedom and fun experiences but remember to spend time on classes. Keep assignments organized and stay ahead with schoolwork.

Secondly, do have some fun! College is about learning to balance an academic career with a social life. Support our athletic teams and go to sporting events. Go out with friends on the weekend and take a break from the classroom. You'll need academic and social experiences to be successful in life.

Finally, get involved and take advantage of opportunities on campus. This is my best advice to make your college experience a memorable one. Northwest has many different organizations so don't be afraid to try something new. Take on leadership positions, study abroad for a trimester or work on campus. There are many options to choose from at Northwest. Make college the time to meet new people, explore new opportunities, and hold nothing back.

If you have any questions or need any assistance, feel free to stop by the Senate Office located in the Office of Campus Activities in J.W. Jones Student Union. We'd love to help you in any way that we can.

Best of luck and see you in August!

Sincerely,

Abby Freeman

Northwest Student Body President
