The University Wellness Center and the Nodaway County Health Department have received information that a recent traveler and visitor to Maryville has been diagnosed with H1N1 influenza, and that this individual was not feeling well while in Maryville. While here, this individual had interaction with campus and community members.
While most cases of H1N1 to date have been relatively mild, the university reminds residents to wash hands frequently, stay home from work or school if ill. Contact a health care professional if registering a fever over 101 degrees Fahrenheit with accompanying symptoms such as sore throat, nausea and vomiting, and aches; and observe Coughing and Sneeze etiquette.
Students should call the University Wellness Center at 660.562.1348; campus employees should contact their physicians.
It is also recommended that individuals and families review personal preparedness plans by gathering supplies (food, water and household necessities) and make a plan should they have to stay at home for long periods of time. For more information please visit http://www.dhss.mo.gov/Ready_in_3/.
